Charleston April the 3 1805

Dear Polly

I have this day arrived here from Jamaica having bin(sic) captured b the English and carried to that island as Capt. ? is to sail this day I have only time to say this that if you made the insurance? properly? for openly that is to say if you presented the receipt for the money and the a guard to under with on that receipt he must pay the lap I shall find a power of attorney or before I sail which will be in four 5 days for Jamaica in order to buy the brig. I shall ship on something by the first opportunity
