Kingston Jamaica April 29 1805

Dear Polly

This is to inform you my being captured by the savanah? ?. I left Charleston ? ? fromthere that I had bin taken by the English the last Voyage this day ?had the trial of the ? & Cargo that has bin condemned(confirmed?) The Schooner that I have bin taken in this time. I have not hurd of ? the day that I was taken they put me on board of a vessel bound here. I am sorry to inform you that my ? is had such am afect on me that I shall not stand it long. It is not possible for me to send you any thing as I am more in Debt than I shall be able to pay for this some time, the Frenchman that tuck me relieved my of all my things. I had a power of attorney made in Charleston for you but ? a ? ? for got to put it into the post office or that will enable you to recover from Upton? And will as to get that money from ? I shall send it to you the first opportunity.
