Charleston Sept 14 1803
Dear Polly
This will serve to acquaint you that I am still here but not being able to sell my Cargo as sune(sic) as expected I shall be longer here than thought If I had directed you to answered(?) my first letter I should have received it before I left this Place I can not meet with any opportunity to send you any money as yet but (I) shall be here 15 or 20 days longer (..) I am in hopes to send some by (..) Capt Austin of Salem that will Sail in 4 or 5 days. I am well & hope you & your children are the same
