| New England Historic Genealogical Society | A members only website, which has a plethora of primarily New England related data on-line and lots more in their Boston library. |
| Familysearch.org | The website of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A good place to start when looking for someone; it can give you a lot of clues. |
| Rootsweb | The free part of ancestry.com. Again a good place to try and find some hints for where to look for an ancestor. |
| Ancestry.com | A members only site that has a ton of information. |
| Cyndi's List of Genealogy Sites on the Internet | This site is a compilation of links to all kinds of genealogy websites. Patience is the key here because I have found that websites come and go likes leaves in the wind. |
| Making of America | I like this website for looking up old texts. For example you can find the scanned images of James Savage's A Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England..., and also local histories that were published around the turn of the last century. |
| Godfrey Library, Middletown, CT | This site is a members only site that has access to various published genealogies and other material. It is also the home of the American Genealogical-Biographical Index (AGBI), which you can search in detail by visiting the libary in person. |
| The Reseach Program in historical Demography | This site contains a searchable database of vital records for Quebec Canada. It is key for anyone with French Candian ancestry. You pay by the record, but can search for free. |
| Connecticut on-line library | This site is for Connecticut residents only. It is the state library on-line. Through this website you can access Hertiage Quest (Census records and others) |
| Alden Kindred of America | This website specializes in information about John Alden, one of the passengers of the Mayflower. |
| Morse Society | The website of the Morse Society is a good place to look for Morse ancestors, although membership is required to get information from the society's database. |
| Gencircles.com | The GenCircles website is a free website similar to Rootsweb. |
| Personal Website of Chez Gulbangi | This is someones personal website that contains some useful genealogy information (I hope just like the website your on!). |
